"We've taken to you so strong!"
GVT is an artist-driven organization with a focus on our community. We are committed to providing year-round live theatre productions, new play development, and community education.
Over the past year we:
· Produced 11 main-stage shows and eight children's productions
totaling more than 150 public performances.
· Toured BREAKING UP IS HARD TO DO in Marlinton and Parkersburg,
West Virginia and held a three-week residency in Greene, New York.
· Provided a "Pay-What-You-Wish" performance of
each major production.
· Held the New Voices Festival, which featured six
new original plays from local playwrights.
· Developed a partnership with The Greenbrier Resort to provide
artistic direction.

Greenbrier Valley Theatre's Youth Education Program is growing by leaps and bounds! It brings children into the wonderful world of live theatre and creative arts.
Throughout the past year we:
· Enrolled more than 250 students in our After-School Drama classes
and Summer Drama Camp.
· Provided an internship and apprentice program for high school and
college students.
· Performed nine matinee productions of ROMEO AND JULIET for 16
schools.
· Continued an ongoing partnership with the Greenbrier County Board
of Education.
· By the end of 2011, our education programs will impact more than
6,300 individuals from across our state and region.

"There's a cup-o'-tea for all."
GVT provides a variety of other cultural offerings to the community and region. In 2011 we:
· Presented Jazz Masters Ellis Marsalis and The Branford
Marsalis Quartet in Seriously Jazz at The Greenbrier
Resort.
· Partnered with the West Virginia Writers to host free
literary tea readings.
· Featured more than 60 different artists in our Daywood
Gallery art shows and at our Annual Art Auction.
· Presented 15 diverse music events.
· Housed the American Federation of Musicians Local 674
and the West Virginia Jazz Orchestra.

In 2011 Greenbrier Valley Theatre received many national awards
and honors.
· Received an award from the Shubert Foundation.
· Received four grant awards from the State of West Virginia.
· Selected as West Virginia's only participating theatre in an international reading of
STANDING ON CEREMONY: THE GAY MARRIAGE PLAYS.
· Received three major grants to produce ROMEO AND JULIET for school and
general audiences.
· Selected as the partner organization for the 2011 and 2012 Lewisburg Chocolate
Festivals.

"Whatever we've got, we share!"
Over the past year GVT supported its
community by:
· Giving free tours to schools, civic clubs, foundations, and
organizations.
· Teaching college-level theatre courses.
· Providing resources such as costumes, props, and
equipment to a variety of schools, businesses, and other
non-profit organizations.
· Serving on the Lewisburg Cultural Roundtable with a focus
on promoting the arts in the Greenbrier Valley.
· Volunteering administrative and operational support for
Penny Pitch during the holidays.

The GVTeam is growing . . .
Our staff and volunteer size has increased. Various staff members are a part of the following:
· Actors' Equity Association
· Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers
· Association of Fundraising Professionals
· American Federation of Musicians
Join the GVTeam! Volunteers are always needed for mass mailings, ushering shows, serving as office assistants, and much more.

Join Greenbrier Valley Theatre's Leave a Legacy Society to help ensure the life and vivacity of GVT for generations to come. There are a variety of ways to participate.
· Name GVT in your will or life insurance policy.*
· Donate stocks, bonds, or real estate.
· Name GVT in your charitable trust.
· Donate to our endowments through the Greater Greenbrier
Valley Community Foundation or the Beckley Area Foundation.
If GVT is already named in your will, please check the box on the inside back cover of this brochure, fill out the back page,
and return it to the theatre.

"Consider yourself well in."
There are a variety of ways to be a part of GVT, in addition to our Annual Campaign.
· Sponsor Campaign funds underwrite productions and music events, and appeal to those who want to
advertise their support.
· Our Youth Education Program holds multiple, small fundraising campaigns throughout the year for
Neighborhood Investment Program tax credits, our Kid's Handprint Gallery, the collaborative GVT musical,
Summer Drama Camp scholarships, and other special programs.
· Designate a Sidewalk Star for you or someone special. Donors pledging at least $25,000
over a three-year period are recognized with a GVT Sidewalk Star along Washington Street.
· Naming Opportunities are available throughout the GVT building. It is a wonderful way to honor or
remember someone special. Naming locations include The Theatre Building, The Studio, Administrative
and Artistic Office Suites, Entrance Hall, Costume Shop, Rehearsal Hall, and many more.
· Special Event sponsorships afford GVT supporters the opportunity to underwrite fundraising
initiatives at the theatre.
