Endowment

In 1967, when the first GVT production opened in a tent on the banks of the Greenbrier River, no one imagined it would grow into what it is today. Now, GVT is the only year- round professional theatre in the state with a permanent home in Lewisburg and a burgeoning touring program with the goal of reaching every corner of the state. We draw national attention to the arts programming of West Virginia by receiving grants from the NEA and the Shubert Foundation and we invest in our community through educational programs for children, subsidized ticket prices, and a variety of community-minded programs that supplement our productions. Looking ahead, the future that we envision for GVT requires critical funds to invest in the development of expanded programming, continued artistic excellence and increased financial stability.

Endowment funds are a key factor in the fiscal health of any major cultural institution. At GVT, only 30% of our annual operating expenses are met by ticket sales, with additional funds generated by grants, private donations, and sponsorships. As with all nonprofits, an endowment insures the long-term financial health and stability of GVT beyond each year and into the future.

The principal of the GVT Endowment Fund is carefully invested by our partners at The Greater Greenbrier Valley Community Foundation. Only the interest generated from this fund supports GVT's artistic and educational programs annually. Over time, gifts added to the endowment make a huge difference as they grow to form a strong foundation that continues to support GVT for years to come.

You can help secure GVT's future by making a gift of cash or securities, or a planned gift to the Greenbrier Valley Theatre Endowment Fund. Your gift will mean that GVT can continue to enlighten our children, enrich our community, and enliven our world for generations to come.

For more information, please contact GVT's Development Office at 304-645-3838 ext. 110.

Matching Gifts

Did you know that many companies offer a matching gift program that allows you to increase your philanthropic dollar, doubling or even tripling your gift to GVT? Even better, GVT will apply these dollars to your cumulative giving for the year, giving you increased benefits and a higher level of donor distinction! Inquire with your company's human resources department to see if your gift to GVT qualifies for a matching gift.

In-Kind

Given the nature of our art, GVT is happy to accept in-kind gifts of all varieties to assist in our theatrical endeavors.

Some items that often come in handy include: New or gently used clothing and bedding, Furniture, Vehicles, Household items, Artwork, Working power tools, Cleaning supplies, Office supplies.

This is list is not exhaustive! If you think you have an item that may be useful to the theatre, please feel free to contact us at your convenience and a member of our staff will help you make that assessment.

Donating in-kind gifts is as easy as dropping them off at the theatre during normal business hours. Please call the Development Office at 304-645-3838 ext. 110 beforehand to ensure that someone will be available to assist you with processing your contribution.

Stock

Gifts of appreciated securities (stock) ensure that GVT continues to produce the high quality theatre you love while entitling you to special donor benefits and potential tax savings.

Please contact GVT's Development Office at (304) 645- 3838 ext. 110 prior to transferring stock to inform us of the approximate dollar amount and/or number of shares and the name of the securities you intend to transfer. This information helps us greatly as we work to accurately process and acknowledge your generosity.

Upon receipt, GVT's broker will liquidate the securities in the most cost-effective manner for the theatre.

GVT will issue a thank you letter to you following the transfer, however, please consult your accountant for information on specific tax benefits you can receive for your donation.

Honorary & Memorial Gifts

In all of Greenbrier Valley Theatre's campaigns, you have the option of designating your gift in honor or in memory of someone special to you. All honorary and memorial gifts are recognized in printed show programs for our mainstage professional season throughout the year in which the gift is made.

For more information on how to make an honorary or memorial gift, contact GVT's Development Office at 304-645-3838 ext. 110.
